Decide what kind of catalogue you want to create. Will this be a consumer catalogue or a B2B (business to business) catalogue? How many products do you want per page? Consumer catalogues have from 1-12 pages, while B2B catalogues may have higher density. Do you have an image library of current products? What other supporting elements do you want: order envelope, sales terms, table of contents, index, address, website, contact information etc.

Tailor your catalogue design to appeal to your audience. A business-to-business catalogue (B2B) will be very different to a business-to-consumer (B2C) catalogue. Will the catalogue contain the full product range for sale, highlighted products, or a limited category range of products? How many catalogues will you need to print and how many times a year? Attention to detail is a must.

Images, fonts, paper type, and binding all play their role in creating the right image for your catalogue.
